Rescue the wardrobe doors!
I’m often asked if I can re-wrap wardrobe and cupboard doors, where the existing vinyl has cracked and is lifting away from the door. This happens because the original application uses a heat and vacuum forming process, which after some time, fails. As there is no glue involved, as soon as it starts to come away from the wood, the entire sheet will just peel off. The important thing is not to try and glue it back on. It’s impossible to remove the glue and it’s always noticeable after it’s been wrapped. If the vinyl is flapping about, or catching on things, just use tape to hold it in place
Here are some wardrobe doors that have had the original vinyl removed for just this reason. I had to make one new door because of the amount of glue residue that would have shown through, spoiling the look. They’ve then had a gloss white film fitted to match the existing gloss look
